つくばスターライトクラブは、つくばで３番目のトーストマスターズクラブとして2014年2月19日からスタートしたクラブです。
Tsukuba Starlight Club has started since February 19th 2014, as the third toastmasters club in Tsukuba.

つくばの場合、次のような多彩で多才な方たちがトーストマスターズクラブに参加しています。
英語のプレゼンや国際会議の研究発表，司会を上手にできるようになりたい方、欧米の子会社とのテレビ会議をスムーズに司会進行できるようになりたい方、英語のスピーチが悩みの種の方，パーティなどで即興で数分のまとまった話を自信を持って話せるようになりたい方、定期的に英語で話す時間を確保したい方、海外駐在を控えている方、会社で役立つリーダーシップスキルを磨いている方、営業のためにちょっとした無駄話のネタを仕入れたい方、単身赴任の方，日本人と交流しながらプレゼンのスキルを磨きたい留学生や外国人技術者、TOEICのスコアを伸ばしたい方、TOEIC満点の方，海外在住で磨いた英語力をキープしたい方。 いろいろです。 そして，皆さん，クラブの時間が楽しみだから来ています。
年齢は18歳から70代。仕事は，学生（留学生含む）・国立研究機関や企業の研究職・技術者・専門職・事務職，大学や学校の先生，自営業，主婦，求職中の方，退職者と多様です。
（英語に自信のない方へ：最初は，自己紹介のスピーチを原稿を読みながらでいいので5分話したり，質問されたら１分間英語で話しきる気力があれば大丈夫です。伸びます。クラブ参加１年で、TOEICスコアが200点くらいアップした方が結構います。）

Toastmasters club is for every people who want to improve their communication and leadership skills.
For example, in Tsukuba Toastmasters Club’s case, members are,
Age: 18 – 70’s
Nationality: Japan, Asian countries, North America, Africa,
Occupation: research scientists, engineers, office workers, University / school teachers, self-employment workers, housewives, a radio personality, job seekers, retired people, Univesity and graduate school students (including foreign students), and so on.
They enjoy themselves with: exchanging in delightful club atmosphere, being friend with members from various fields of endeavor, and developing their communication and leadership skills.
トーストマスターズって？ / What is toastmasters club? (2024年1月更新）
トーストマスターズクラブは1924年にアメリカで発足した、プレゼンテーションやテーブルスピーチなどパブリック・スピーキングとリーダーシップの能力向上を目的とした、非営利の教育的自主サークルです。
世界148カ国に14,200以上のクラブがあり、27万人以上の会員がおります(2023年10月現在）。日本では、北は北海道から南は九州沖縄まで約227のクラブがあり、約4000人のメンバーがいます。多くは地域の市民サークルですが、大学や日本を代表する企業のいくつかには社内トーストマスターズクラブがどんどん出来ています。
トーストマスターズクラブでは，英語によるスピーチ（プレゼンテーション）と互いのフィードバック、司会やクラブ運営の機会を通じてコミュニケーションスキルとリーダーシップスキルを磨けるだけでなく、スピーチコンテストやパーティの運営や参加を通じていろいろな分野で活躍する幅広い世代の方達と交流できます。
出張や旅行の機会に世界各地のToastmasters clubを訪れ，見知らぬ土地でアットホームな歓迎を受けるのも国際的なToastmasters clubならではの楽しみの一つです。

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Our network of clubs and their learn-by-doing program are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader. Why pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join a Toastmasters club for a fraction of the cost and have fun in the process?

どんなメリットがあるの？ / What is advantages?
東京のような都市部には、スピーチやプレゼンテーションでのあがりの克服や、コミュニケーションスキルの向上をめざした「話し方教室」が多くあるようです。
トーストマスターズクラブは英会話教室や話し方教室ではなく市民サークルですです。ミーティングのたびに、全員の前で話す機会が必ず１回あります。
リーダーシップスキルの訓練は、トーストマスターズクラブの活動の柱です。クラブの運営やクラブのイベントの運営は、マニュアルに従ってメンバーが分担して交代で行います。
マニュアルに従ってスピーチや司会を繰り返し経験しながら、安い会費で楽しく活動するうちにコミュニケーションスキルが向上していきます。
そして，不思議なことに，次第に英語だけではなく日本語のプレゼンテーションにも余裕を持って臨めるようになります。

Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills. ＊＊吾妻交流センターは2023年12月末でなくなり、2024年2月より、つくば市民センター「コリドイオ」Collidoioに移転します。

既にToastmasters International会員の方は入会金 無料（2021年7月より）
・半年会費 9,000円/6ヶ月 （途中入会は、1,500円 x 月数）
・Entrance fee ¥3,000 (registration fee)
No need to pay for new members having Toastmasters International ID and manuals.
・Membership fee ¥9,000 / 6 months (¥1,500 / month for midterm entrance)

1985年設立の伝統あるクラブです。 つくば・土浦だけでなく，日立周辺含む県内全域からメンバーが集まっています。夏のバーベキュー、冬の忘年会を含めて、年に何度かパーティをします。Established in 1985. It is one of the largest Toastmasters club in Japan. Members come from not only Tsukuba-Tsuchiura area but also all Ibaraki cities including Hitachi. |
つくば唯一の日本語トーストマスターズクラブ。外国人会員も多いです。 2009よりProspective club（準備クラブ）として活動を始め、2013年春に正式なクラブとなりました。夏冬のパーティの他に、例会後は頻繁にファミレスで食事会をしています。Established in 2013. About 1/5 are none Japanese native members. It is the only Japanese Toastmasters club in Tsukuba. |
